Sinopse: Depois de parecer que desta vez é que ela o deixou de vez, Tom Hansen relembra que foi á cerca de um ano que conheceu Summer Finn, a rapariga da sua vida. Summer era uma rapariga que sempre atraiu a atenção de homens, Tom incluído. Para Tom, foi amor à primeira vista, quando ela foi trabalhar na empresa de cartões de agradecimento onde ele trabalha, ela era a nova assistente administrativa. Desde logo, Tom sabia que de Summer era a mulher com quem ele queria passar o resto de sua vida, apesar de ela não acreditar em relacionamentos ou namorados porque na sua opinião, a "vida real" acaba sempre por finalmente entrar no caminho. Tom e Summer, tornaram-se mais do que apenas amigos, mas ele queria mais. Mas como Summer previu, a "vida real" acaba por estragar a sua amizade e nada irá durar para sempre, no seu caso, durou 500 dias.
